This little porcelain jar was thrown on the potter's wheel using a combination of black porcelain with a small amount of white porcelain mixed in. This combo ended up yielding a dark grey with finely threaded white swirls. I hand-carved the pattern at the leather-hard stage and painted red and yellow underglaze into the cuts. Once the piece was bisque-fired, I applied a chartreuse high-fire glaze to the inside and a clear gloss high-fire glaze to the outside. It is topped with a be-jeweled natural cork stopper, hand-embedded with vintage mauve pink Swarovski crystal gems.
